zen-shin kickboxing Zen-Shin Kickboxing

Kickboxing is a relatively new martial art developed from a form of contact Karate. Kickboxing allows the student to learn how defend them-selves in a combat situation. It is similar to Karate with a lot of the basic kicks and punches being the same. At Zen-Shin some of the higher grades are taught Kata. This aids the student by keeping their training challenging and interesting.

This is where we chain the basic movements together to create more complex sequences of attacking and defending moves. This also helps the student to develop concentration and makes their attacks more fluid when sparring.

Impact

This is where the Kickboxer gets to practice striking pads. This allows the student to build on the power of his or her techniques and get the correct distance. This is very important in a real combat situation. The student learns a lot about positioning and feels resistance when striking a pad making the techniques work.

Physical Exercise

The warm up exercises usually consist of a mix of stretching exercises which improve flexibility and cardio exercise which works the heart and other muscles.
